Distractions Versus Due Diligence

Apr 7, 2026 | Blog

There is so much noise and distraction going on around us, above us, below us, and within us. Sometimes, it’s loud and almost unbearable. Other times, it’s a soft whisper or a series of whispers. Wins seem to happen to everyone except you. And every hour of every day seems to offer a ‘new’ and ‘better’ way to do ‘it’, whatever that may be. They all seem like the ‘right’ thing to do. You tell yourself that if you just do this next ‘it’, your business will thrive beyond your wildest dreams. Opportunities will beat down your door. The reality is that chasing the shiny things without due diligence distracts us from our personal and professional purpose in business and in life.

As we begin Q2, my call to action is simple, but not easy. List everything you did last quarter. Now ask yourself what worked, what didn’t, and what you need to change. It’s the questions that aren’t as easy to answer because oftentimes, our decisions to pursue people, places, and things are tied to emotional attachments rather than due diligence. Even with due diligence, the outcome may not prove to be the best fit for the desired outcome(s). If all is well, keep doing what you’re doing. If it’s not, I invite you to reach out for a quick chat about what’s distracting you and how I can work with you and your teams to achieve restorative work-life harmony and sustainable productivity.
